Children in grades K-5 participate in classes that use the Rotation Sunday school model. In Rotation Sunday school, children study a Bible story or thematic unit for four weeks by “rotating” through various models of learning. These models are designed to give children a multi-sensory exposure to the content and address the various learning styles of children (visual, auditory and tactile).
At Beaver Ridge UMC the seven models used in Rotation Sunday school are as follows:
- Creative Station (Arts and Crafts)
- Son Games (Games & Recreation)
- Discovery Zone (Science)
- Acts of the Apostles (Drama)
- Chefs for Christ (Cooking)
- The Mouse Pad (Computers)
- Heavenly Box Office (Movies)
Before dividing into groups, children first meet in the Gathering Room for a snack, announcements, and prayers. Children are grouped by grade level and each class has an adult shepherd and teacher. (All adults who work with children and/or youth must complete Safe Sanctuary training.)
